How to turn your App Store or Google Play listing into a month of content
Updated October 19, 2026 · Reelsquad
The short version
- Your app listing already holds a month of content: every screenshot is a feature video, every paragraph of the description is a carousel, every release note is a launch post and every real review is proof.
- A month at a steady pace is about 16 short videos, 12 carousels and 8 images, plus daily stories.
- Show the real app screen in videos, quote reviews word for word, and don't claim anything the listing doesn't say.
What's in your listing, and what each part becomes
Both the App Store and Google Play listings are built from the same kinds of material: a name and short pitch, a long description, screenshots and preview videos, release notes and user reviews. Each one maps naturally to a post type.
| Listing part | Becomes | Format to use |
|---|---|---|
| Subtitle / short description | The one-line promise you open videos with | Hooks for every post |
| Screenshots | One feature video per screenshot, shown on the real screen | Green-screen walkthrough, Feature spotlight |
| Long description | Each paragraph or bullet becomes a slide deck | Feature tour carousel, Step-by-step how-to |
| What's New / release notes | A short launch post every release | What's new / launch reel, Announcement image |
| Ratings and reviews | Proof posts, quoted word for word | Real review highlight, Real review card, Real review roundup |
| Questions in reviews | Answers to the doubts buyers actually have | FAQ / objection buster, FAQ carousel |
| Category and competitors | Comparisons with the old way of doing the task | Old way vs new way |
Step 1: collect the raw material
- Copy the subtitle (App Store) or short description (Google Play), and the full description.
- Save every screenshot and preview video at full size. These are your product shots; never mock up screens that don't exist.
- Copy the last few releases' notes.
- Collect 10–20 real reviews, with star ratings, exactly as written. Keep a note of where each came from.
- List the questions and complaints that show up in reviews more than once.
Step 2: plan four weeks
Spread the material so each week mixes teaching, showing and proof, instead of spending week one on features and week four on reviews.
| Week | Short videos | Carousels | Images |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 screenshot walkthroughs, 1 quick tip, 1 POV skit | Feature tour, tips listicle, relatable moments | Quote, app screen highlight |
| 2 | 1 old way vs new way, 1 FAQ answer, 1 mistakes, 1 feature spotlight | How-to, FAQ, myth vs fact | Review card, relatable graphic |
| 3 | 1 real review highlight, 1 walkthrough, 1 things nobody tells you, 1 quick tip | Old way vs new way, review roundup, tips | Quote, app screen highlight |
| 4 | 1 what's new (latest release), 1 objection answer, 1 POV skit, 1 walkthrough | Feature tour, how-to, relatable moments | Announcement, review card |
Add a story every day: re-cut the latest post, or share one tip taken from the description.
Step 3: write each post from the listing
- Hook first: rewrite a feature as the problem it solves (“Stop retyping receipts”), not the feature name.
- One idea per video. If a screenshot shows three features, that's three videos.
- Show the real screen as early as possible; people decide in the first seconds whether the app is for them.
- End with one action: download, try the feature, or follow for the next tip.
- Quote reviews exactly, including the rating, and never stitch two reviews into one.
Step 4: refresh it every release
Each new release adds a What's New post and usually a new screenshot, and new reviews arrive every week. Swap those in and retire the posts that performed worst, and the plan keeps running without new research.
This is the process Reelsquad automates: paste your App Store or Google Play link, and it reads the listing and reviews, plans the month, writes every post and produces the videos with AI creators, labelled as AI.
Questions
Can I use my App Store screenshots in social media videos?
Yes, they're your own product screens. Use them as they are, or record the same screens live, rather than creating mockups of features that don't exist.
Is it allowed to quote App Store reviews in marketing?
Quote them word for word, with the rating, and never edit them to sound better or combine several into one. Fake or altered testimonials are illegal in the US and Canada.
How many posts can one app listing produce?
Usually a full month: about 16 short videos, 12 carousels and 8 images, because each screenshot, description section, release and review is its own post.
